There are places that ask you to slow down, to stand on the edge of land and sea and listen. Trefor Sea Stacks, on the rugged coast of Wales, is one of those places: a cluster of towering rock pillars standing proud against the Atlantic, shaped by millennia of wind and waves. This travel poster celebrates that wild meeting of stone and sea, inviting the viewer to imagine a stroll along the clifftop as the sun leans low and the horizon softens.
Trefor is a small coastal village with a working heritage. Its granite quarry has long marked the landscape, and the weight of industry sits lightly beside a more ancient story of tides and erosion. Local fishermen and quarry hands, the Welsh language and the rhythms of the sea are woven into the area's character. The stacks themselves are geological witnesses - dramatic, resilient and a little lonely, like faraway sentinels watching shipping lanes and the changing weather.
The landscape here is elemental. From the cliff tops you see broad sweeps of moor and grass, sloping down to jagged edges and narrow coves. Waves fold into rock, foam lacing the sea in bright white trails that contrast with deep blues and slate greys. On calm evenings the light turns the cliffs a warm honey and gold, while on stormier days the palette shifts to sombre greens and steely blues. That shifting light is part of Trefor's romance: every hour offers a new mood and a new view.
This poster aims to capture that mood with the clean simplicity of classic travel art. Shapes are pared back to bold planes of colour, suggesting rather than detailing the cliff faces and rolling headlands. The palette favours warm ochres, muted olive greens and soft terracotta for the rock, balanced by cool teal and indigo for the sea and sky.
