Beginning his career as an illustrator in a publisher's studio after studying art and graphics in Bristol, Chris Forsey has been an artist for most of his working life. With his studio in Dorking, Surrey, and The North Downs on his doorstep, Chris finds constant inspiration from the landscape around him. He embraces a mixed-media approach to his work, fusing watercolour, pastel and gouache to create his coastal and countryside scenes. Using a combination of colour, expressive mark-making and powerful compositions, he aims to capture precise moments in time; sudden changes in light, a time of day or season. Widely exhibited in galleries across the UK, Chris has won The Matt Bruce Award and The Donald Blake Award for contemporary watercolour. In 2010 he became part of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours.
