The Isle of Harris sits at the wind-swept edge of the Outer Hebrides, a place where sea and mountain meet in a long, slow conversation. This travel poster celebrates that meeting - the wide, pale beaches that turn turquoise in high summer, the rolling machair where wildflowers sway, and the distant ridge of mountains that catch the ever-changing light. It invites you to remember, or to imagine, a wild corner of Scotland where solitude feels generous and every view seems designed to be loved.
Harris has a layered history. Centuries of crofting and fishing communities left a quiet human imprint: whitewashed cottages tucked into the slopes, stone walls running like seam lines through the landscape, and the enduring craft of Harris Tweed - a cloth that carries the island's name and tells of hands, weather and geography. Gaelic words still colour the place names and songs; the island's music and voice are as much a part of its identity as the sea. This poster honours that heritage without being literal: a suggestion of houses on the headland, a hint of fields, and a mood that feels rooted and timeless.
For the adventurous, Harris offers more than scenery. Walkers can tackle ridges and hidden beaches, kayakers can follow the coastline and slip between bays, and wild swimmers find clear, cold water that sharpens the senses. The north and south of the island show contrasts - remote heathered hills and broad, low beaches like Luskentyre that unfold in bands of sand and shallow water. The poster captures those contrasts in simplified form - layered shapes that echo dunes, sea and mountain - so the eye can travel without distraction.
The print itself takes its cue from classic travel posters: a restrained, retro-inspired style that uses flat planes of colour and clean geometry to evoke feeling rather than reproduce detail.
