The Isle of Mull is a place of gentle drama: a patchwork of emerald hills, ochre machair and the cool sweep of the sea, where small harbours hug the coastline and mountains rise on the horizon. This travel poster celebrates that character - the hush of evening light, the small cluster of colourful houses at the water's edge and a horizon that promises discovery. It invites you to remember a day spent wandering pebbled coves, watching seals and seabirds, or simply standing still as sunlight slides over distant ridgelines.
Mull's story is a weave of Gaelic heritage, crofting communities and seafaring life. From medieval ruins and broch sites to the island's more recent naval and fishing history, every bay and glen holds traces of people who lived with the weather and the sea. That sense of lived landscape - where language, music and local food remain rooted in place - is part of the island's romance. The poster hints at that past through its composition: the harbour as a focal point, the land curling back into hills where peat and heather still scent the air, and the blue of the Atlantic pulling the eye beyond the foreground.
In Britain, and especially in Scotland, travel posters have long been a shorthand for longing and escape. This print follows that tradition with a modern-retro aesthetic. Flat, layered colour blocks form the hills and mountains, while clean lines and simplified shapes evoke the clarity of a perfect late-afternoon light. The palette leans warm and coastal - muted golds and sandy beiges for the foreground slopes, soft teals and deep blues for the sea, and dusky mauves for distant peaks. Together the colours suggest both warmth and the cool freshness of island air.
Typography here is intentional: bold, elegant lettering anchors the scene, like a promise stamped on a ticket.
