St Andrews sits where rolling links meet the North Sea, a place where centuries of history unfold along a narrow strip of coastline. This travel poster celebrates that unique blend of ancient stones, open sky and sporting legend. From the ruined nave of St Andrews Cathedral to the whisper of surf on West Sands, the town invites both quiet reflection and spirited adventure.
Walk the cobbled lanes and you can feel the presence of learning and tradition. The university has shaped the town's character for more than five hundred years; its cloisters, ivy-clad buildings and lively student cafés sit alongside chapels and remnants of ecclesiastical power. Overlooking it all, the cathedral's skeletal arches frame the sea - a romantic reminder of time's passage and the endurance of place.
Golf is woven into the town's identity. The Old Course, with its famous Swilcan Bridge and long, undulating fairways, is more than a sporting ground: it is a landscape of memory. The green of the links, the amber of the bunkers and the pale sweep of the beach create a palette that has inspired visitors for generations. On clear days, horizons feel limitless; on blustery afternoons, the wind adds a cinematic motion to every scene.
This poster captures those moods in a vintage travel style. Clean, simplified shapes and a measured use of flat planes create an image that feels both modern and timeless. The colour palette is deliberately sunwashed: cool sea blues, sandy golds, soft greens and warm stone ochres speak of seaside light and weathered walls. The typography draws on classic poster lettering - bold and confident yet elegant - to frame the scene and invite the eye to wander from sky to shore.
Beyond landmarks, St Andrews is a place of small pleasures.
