Perched above a sheltered cove on the Ceredigion coast, Mwnt Church has long felt like a secret told in whispers - a small whitewashed chapel, windswept grass and the ever-present chorus of sea and gulls. This travel poster celebrates that quiet romance: the meeting of ancient stone and Atlantic horizon, a place where time slows and the landscape invites slow footsteps and wider views.
Mwnt's charm is not in grand monuments but in the intimacy of setting. The chapel stands modest and resolute, a tranquil witness to centuries of sailors, pilgrims and locals who have made the steep walk down to the beach and back again. Around it are rolling green slopes, rugged cliffs and a crescent of sand that curves into cool blue water. The coastline here carries a gentle history - religious practice and coastal livelihood woven into a landscape that feels both wild and welcoming. Visiting Mwnt is as much a quiet inward journey as it is a coastal adventure.
This poster captures that mood in a vintage travel style, favouring bold, simplified forms over detail to evoke memory rather than map. Clean shapes and layered planes suggest the cliffs and fields, while a restrained palette of sea blues, slate greys, soft ochres and English greens recalls the washed colours of a well-loved print. Hints of warm light on cloud and sand bring an afternoon glow, while the chapel's pale walls stand out as a calm focal point against the hillside.
Typographic choices on the poster nod to classic travel lithographs: a strong, confident sans-serif headline that anchors the image, balanced by understated subtext. The type sits comfortably within the white margin, inviting the eye to rest and the imagination to roam. The overall composition - a sweep of shoreline leading to the building, a high sky and a tidy border - makes the poster a doorway.
