Solid wood, it looks really nice. It comes with a brush replacement which is handy.

6 months since I bought this and already the stainless steel plate on the handle is beginning to rust & discolour. It hardly gets used so really disappointed that a brush valued at £60 is failing. May look "good" but let down with its quality. Save your money, wish that I did.
