Ystradfellte sits like a secret folded into the hills of south Wales, a place where rivers find their voice in sudden falls and the landscape seems to breathe with its own slow rhythm. This travel poster honours that feeling: the hush of ancient woodlands, the bright gasp of a cascade, and the long, golden slopes that cradle a winding river. It invites you to imagine sunrise mist lifting from the valley, a waymarked path underfoot and the constant, soothing music of water.
The story of Ystradfellte is one of quiet endurance. Small farms and slate-roofed cottages have long shared the land with sheep and the occasional flock of migrating birds. Paths once used by generations of walkers, drovers and villagers link rocky outcrops, old stone bridges and modest hamlets, while local stories and Welsh-language place names remain woven through the countryside. There is a sense here that history is lived, not merely preserved - a lived-in landscape where every gorge and gushing pool has a human scale and a memory.
Landscape is the heart of the poster. The composition draws the eye along a snaking river that tumbles into a generous waterfall, set against layers of rolling hills. Trees stand like quiet sentinels; fields slope away in bands of soft colour. The scene captures Ystradfellte's particular blend of wildness and welcome - places to explore and corners to linger with a cup of tea and a well-thumbed map.
Visually the print takes its cue from classic travel art: simplified shapes, confident contours and a limited palette that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Warm ochres and burnt siennas speak of autumn afternoons, while slate blues and deep greens ground the picture in the cool, damp air of the Welsh hills. Cream highlights suggest light finding its way through mist; muted textures evoke the look of old lithographs and hand-printed posters.
