Reproduction small antiqued glazed grey distressed ceramic phrenology head. Based upon the studies of L N Fowler this decorative head represents the beliefs of practitioners of phrenology that different areas of the brain affected the shape of the skull and these shapes could be used to study personality. This striking glazed head is an impressive eye catching item in living rooms, studies, shop windows, therapy centres and doctors surgeries. This item is slightly distressed ceramic. This means during the manufacturing process slight imperfections have been deliberately created. These give the item an older more ‘antique’ look than it would have if it had been made to be perfect. There will be parts of a design missing and some of the writing may be illegible. There may also be slight bumps or other surface imperfections or irregularities in the glaze. These are meant to give the careworn and well used look of a much older item to a recently manufactured product. This distressed finish is not to be regarded as a fault.
I love this, my daughters laughed at me when they saw it but after looking at it and realizing what it was all about, we were all feeling the bumps on our heads! It's amazing how acurate it is, it's a great talking piece and very cool. Would recommend if you want something unusual but classic and interesting.. Jessica. Christchurch, GB. Tue Dec 28 2021
