This clock is the perfect focal point for your kitchen, conservatory or garden patio.
Pretty good. Sorry about the dark photo. The bigger clock is “the real deal”……..a 1951 version in perfect condition. Obviously much larger, and it is very cool and special, but the modern one catches a fair degree of the original coolness.
While the modern one is branded as Smiths, the original is branded as Smith, but the two seemed to be pretty much interchangeable. The tail of the red second hand is too long, but only noticeable alongside the original. The only thing that lets it down for me is that the face is just too white (again, compared to the beautiful ageing of the original face).
Being so much smaller means that it will never have the gravitas of the original, but again, you know the size when you buy it, so no surprises there.
The modern clock’s (few) shortcomings are only evident when set side by side with an original, and that’s an unfair battle. On its own, this little homage clock is very nice indeed.. Anonymous. Denny, GB. Thu Aug 12 2021
