Great art deserves to be on canvas! Unlike thin posters and paper prints, giclée canvas artwork offers the texture, look and feel of fine-art paintings. This artwork is crafted in the united kingdom with artist-grade canvas, professionally hand-stretched and stapled over North American pine-wood bars in gallery wrap style; a method utilized by artists to present artwork in galleries. Your gallery-wrapped canvas comes mounted to a 2 inch thick, elegant hardwood frame. The art is inset, leaving a 3/8" space between the art and frame; creating a "floating" illusion. Fade-resistant Epson ultra-chrome archival inks guarantee perfect colour reproduction that remains vibrant for decades even when exposed to strong light. Gyotaku is a Japanese fish printing art created in the early 1800's using rice paper and natural berry inks to preserve exact sizes of prized catches. The rubbings were used to prove these records as this was pre-photography times in that area. People would compete with each other and needed some way to record the fish as well as honouring the fish itself. The first printing was done with only one colour just to prove size and species but at some point evolved to more colours to bring out a more artful rendition of the subject. This art form reproduces the exact features and characteristics of the fish.
