This is a lovely decorative addition on a sideboard in one of our meeting rooms. It comes in x2 pieces and is lightweight. This is great fun, having the phone separate although I anticipate that the phone piece could disappear in a shared/public space. The little-known GPS of Ancient Times. Essentially, it’s an elaborate inclinometer-cum-slide rule, used to measure the altitude above the horizon of a celestial body. It can be used to identify stars or planets, to determine local latitude, to survey, and even determine your horoscope. The arrival, in the 17th-18th centuries, of accurate sextants and reliable portable chronometers rendered the astrolabe obsolete for navigation at sea, but it remains a fascinating and little-understood instrument. This replica, in polished brass, sits in a wooden plinth and stands 18cm tall.

This traditional style cookbook holder is crafted from cast iron and finished in an aged grey colour. It features a solid base for stability and hanging weights to keep the pages from flicking shut. Measuring 26cm wide, with a lip at the base to hold the required book, the stand angle can be adjusted to the required reading position. The base measures 10cm in diameter and will keep the unit safely in position so you can focus on cooking delicious delicacies. This recipe book holder is a desirable addition to the kitchen and features an ornate floral pattern with a natural, rustic finish. Please note, the base of the holder attaches to the frame with a butterfly bolt we recommend that this is secured using a spanner and pair of pliers to ensure a solid fixing. Once firmly fixed, the cookbook stand can then be eased and adjusted into the preferred position. Once assembled, we also recommend placing your book of choice on the stand to test the solidity of its positioning if there is movement, the connecting bolt will need further tightening.

This brass pocket sundial is a completely self-contained portable instrument, with a compass for alignment and lid for protection. The gnomon is set for latitudes around 50 Degrees north, so will be most accurate in the south of England, northern Europe, Canada and so on. At these latitudes, this is a functioning time indicator (in as much as sundials ever were!).
