Despite celebrating a triumph, the dignified pathos of the defeated "barbarians" is preserved. The Dying Gaul Statue was formerly called a gladiator, but with his moustache and neck torque he is clearly what the Roman historian Diodorus called a "shaggy-haired Gaul". The sculpture's fame was boosted by the restoration of the right arm, by Michelangelo. With classic details revealing the Greeks' admiration for strength and bravery, this museum-quality replica is captured in bonded natural marble and sculpted to be admired from any angle as fine gallery work.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This rendition of The Dying Gaul IS a beautifully detailed and well crafted. Normally I will say the overall appearance can be a tad crisper...perhaps this piece can be best described as freshly scooped vanilla ice cream in a bowl, but slightly melted 2 minutes later...and maybe that in and of itself is part of the "art" and inspiration of the work, as he is dying, thus melting from existence. This is a fine art piece to rest the eyes as a focal point to inspire thought.. Www Realtyresults Cc. Amherst, Oh, United States. Sat Apr 22 2023
