This print was one of a small number that was produced during 2020 in the first UK lockdown and is part of the artist's response to the pandemic. 'Under Moss & Stones' once again examines the patterns and structure of the natural world, a branch is a river seen from space, shells have a similar appearance to ears, spirals and tunnels. The words 'let me have a word in your shell-like' appear in your head alluding to poetic imagery from the 19th century. Look at the image closely, inside the shell is a human ear and a human eye, she lives on the earth, under the moss and stones keeping company with insects.

The title 'This New Life' echoes that of the dystopian novel 'Brave New World' by Aldous Huxley. The vision is of a performer on stage, at the bottom of the sea or weightless on the moon, their head encased in a bubble of green glass or liquid - to help them breathe. The spiral on the shell is a symbol of the universe, the shape of a spiral galaxy. The incredible detail of the individual strands of a feather mesmerises and create a state of contemplation of the beauty of the natural world and its patterns and structures.
