As we only use 100% natural raw slate and hand-cut it to shape, irregularities on the surface /sharp edges and corners, and tiny chips off within the finished designs are to be expected. Their food service products, such as our cheeseboards and servicing trays, have been treated with acrylic lacquer. Their special acrylic lacquer completely seals the slate ensuring food safety and allowing for ease of cleaning (only for a few exclusive/finest products). To maintain the appearance of these items over time and hide scratches, a natural/cooking oil can be re-applied using a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not wash in the dishwasher, do not use with abrasive pan scrubs, and do not place in either a conventional or a microwave oven. Their slate products are heat resistant- perfect for hot pans and dishes, fridge and freezer-safe. Please keep away from children under. 18-year-old, this is not a toy.
