Linch Metal Wall Planter

I bought this as it said "Outdoor Wall Planters" I had to drill holes in the bottom as there weren't any and only then saw a sticker saying they weren't waterproof. How could they be for outside but not waterproof? Also, while I was hooking one of the planters onto the screws the metal bit ripped so it could now fall any day.
