The fabric is a chenille and the orange colour is more of a coppery brown but it looks very nice. It's a beautiful chair. Just hard. We moved it from a main sitting area to a bedroom because it was too firm for our liking. We use it in the bedroom relaxing with the laptop or a book and don't find it bad for that type of short term use. For us, it wasn't a chair to hang out in chatting with company or watching a movie. Lovely accent chairs. Very easy to put together though directions are a bit annoying - word of advice lay everything out, think it through, and it really is intuitive. I did it alone, no problem. The washers, etc pouches are in the seat cushion, just pull back the Velcro in the back. Back is low but I knew that when I purchased it just something to keep in mind. Comfortable and feels sturdy.
