Constructed using tempered glass means that it is stronger than regular glass and has a higher maximum weight capacity. Using this type of glass also means that if something does happen that causes the glass to break, the glass will shatter into smaller crumbs rather than long dagger-like shards.

Excellent ! We love this tv stand. It was relatively easy to put together. Well explained in the instructions. Although there is a glass shelve as part of the unit, we have decided not to use it.
