This raised bed is well worth paying a little more for. It took about an hour and a half to assemble (32 screws) but the finished product is excellent quality. It is very sturdy, strong, fade proof, waterproof and has a modern colouring to blend into most gardens, it won't need painting or treating, and I found it a good height for me at 5 foot 5 inches. Once filled with soil it is also wind proof. You can plant about 15 lettuce comfortably, or more if you plant them closer still. The bonus for me which I was not aware of before ordering, is the water gauge. The gauge tells you when to water your plants, or if there is too much water in the bed, if it is flooded from rain there is a plug to release the excess water onto the ground below or into a watering can. I ended up purchasing the 11x7 Poppy greenhouse over the Memorial Day weekend, after reading a multitude of reviews. Based on those reviews I decided to give Backyard Discovery a chance. From delivery to final build I could not have been happier with the experience. As a DIYer, this was in my wheelhouse. What was most impressive was the build instructions, which were complimented by the online 3D app. The inventory list for each box was invaluable in saving time from having to look for the multitude of parts and hardware. To make the build easier, I set up a 6ft table in my garage and placed all of the hardware in plastic containers which were arranged numerically. This preparation will save an enormous amount of time searching for specific hardware. The quality of the cedar was very good, solid, and consistent. Throughout the build, the instructions actually had notes, in red, that were important “lookouts” so as not to make an error with regards to specific part orientation or sequence. As I worked my way through the build, the more impressed I became with the instructions and how I could tell that the folks responsible for the instructions were truly hands-on common sense engineers. My hat off to the company for their efforts in making these projects enjoyable along with providing a wonderful finished product…that appears to last. As with any quality build, if you do not ensure that the pad is level and the sidewalls are not square and level, you will not have an enjoyable experience.
