Requiring simple home assembly, the base is fashioned to look like the top half of the globe, with longitude and latitude lines, as well as the outlines of the land masses. The sundial features roman numerals with the time told as the shadow from the supporting rod (fashioned like an arrow) falls on the relevant number. Measuring 33cm x 38cm x 24cm when assembled, the base measures 15cm across and the whole unit weighs 2.57kg.

It was widely used during the 17th and 18th centuries in scientific debates over the relative merits of the competing central Earth and central Sun theories. Everything about this ornament is perfect. The size and colour are as stated/shown in the specifications and the picture. It arrived perfectly packed and when I opened it I was delighted to see it was even better than I had anticipated. Everyone who has seen it it are 'knocked out' by it and say what a beautiful addition to the room and it is so in keeping with the décor of the room.
