Rag Rugs

More than anything else, area rugs are art for your floors: They create the mood of your decor, guide the layout of your furniture, and establish a colour scheme to follow (or rebel against). A new rug can, and will, dramatically change a room – the fun part is picking the one you love! This one for example: is handwoven in a geometric pattern in a beige and yellow colour palette. It is crafted from jute and cotton. To clean this piece, we recommend professional cleaning when needed.

This rug is a little more Shabby Elegance than others that we offer but they are of great value. If you are a hippy or a hippy chick you will probably love them. Cover a huge space for very little money or fill that little gap in the porch. Conceal a tired-looking floor under bright colours or spread them out in your tent. These rugs are great for bringing a splash of colour to your home or camping adventure. They are hand-loomed in India with multi-coloured fabric so everyone is different - and the fact that they are made with recycled materials is a great touch! Remember that the random fabric content means that they should be treated as non-colour fast especially if they have become damp - so please take care to avoid colour transfer onto other surfaces.

The rug is more multi-colored than "red/orange" as described, but it's big, cheap, washable, sustainable, and it keeps our feet warm, so we're keeping it.. Nina. Cork, IE. Wed Oct 12 2022

Beautiful rug, I really love it, nice quality and looks great in my area.. Patricia. Clarkrange, TN. Sat Jan 13 2024

This rug carries the energy of something made by hand and meant to be noticed. The light blue ground acts as a calm foundation, while the multicolored accents surface throughout the weave like scattered threads of color — unpredictable in their placement, unified in their effect. The result is a pattern that feels spontaneous and layered, with a depth that shifts depending on the light and the angle of view. Fringe detailing along the edges reinforces the handcrafted spirit of the piece, lending it a relaxed bohemian quality that sits comfortably in eclectic, globally inspired, or casual contemporary interiors.

Exactly as shown and described. Exactly what I needed for my lake cottage vibe.. Anonymous. Fri Sep 02 2022

I LOVE this rug!! We live at the beach and I wanted something casual, colorful and washable....this is it! Orange is my accent color and it pops against our white floors. I recommend getting a slip-resistant floor protector as this rug will slip and slide if not. I did what other recommended and put books on all four corners for a day to get them to lay flat and it worked perfectly. I would totally buy this rug again!. Morgan. Newport, Oregon. Bought to add a County feel to room. Good size, good colour. Light enough to brighten and freshen room but has enough variation and texture to not have to hoover too often. The only down side is it lifts when hoovering and the tassels are fairly lack luster.. Helen. Gillingham, GB. Sun Jun 30 2024

These rag rugs are handmade in India by the barefoot college, an Ngo in rural Rajasthan. Established in 1972, the barefoot college is a non-government organisation that has been providing basic services and solutions to problems in rural communities, with the objective of making them self-sufficient and sustainable. These 'Barefoot solutions' can be broadly categorised into solar energy, water, education, health care, rural handicrafts, people's action, communication, women's empowerment and wasteland development. They are made from rags that have been left over from the garment industry and handmade on a handloom. They recommend that they are hand washed in a cool wash. As these rugs have been made with recycled rags they cannot guarantee that they are colour-fast.
