Of course, the sliding mechanism is made of sturdy metal and is extremely durable. This was a difficult but rewarding build. There are approximately 3 screws for every right angle joint for both front and back. Then more screws for attaching the shelves to the struts. An electric screwdriver with torque settings is a must. Additionally, the metal struts weren't labelled - identifying them using the provided instructions was an intelligence test. Love this unit! Its smart and solid. Just be very careful on build. I had to take apart a couple times and re build due to instructions not saying about side panels etc being a certain way round so feel some of it was a guessing game.
