Excuse the messy house! I absolutely love this rug. It matches my interior really well. I was a bit worried that the pile might be too lowthin after reading some reviews, but I actually have no problem with it at all. It’s a regular thickness IMO. My only issue is that the orange parts of the rug are actually more pink than orange in real life. I guess that’s what cameras do! The Lady wears a kimono and fan in the Japanese style, and figures reminiscent of oriental tapestry grace the perspectiveless background in a wall tapestry. Klimt’s work borrows heavily from the Symbolist, Impressionist, and Art Nouveau movements, and all of those influences can be seen in Lady with Fan. The extensive use of golds, greens, and reds in this piece and the highly stylized background give it a much sharper feel than most Nouveau works, which tend toward flowing naturalism and wall art ideas.
