The Belgian interior brand that grew out of a lifelong passion for travel, creates highly original design pieces made from eco-friendly materials such as water hyacinth, rattan and bamboo. The people behind Bazar Bizar are Pascale Pelsmaekers and Eddy Roothaert. As world travellers, the couple had seen many sights, but Indonesia felt like a ‘homecoming’. They fell in love with the country, the Balinese culture, the traditional craftsmanship and the people, not to mention the boho vibes. Bazar Bizar stands for a nonchalant mix and match of colours and materials, carefully curated by Pascale herself. The objects and furniture are made from natural, ecological materials such as (recycled) wood, rattan, water hyacinth, bamboo and lava stone. The label is a highly environmentally conscious and uses sustainable, authentic materials: for example, the wicker baskets incorporate plastic that has been gathered from the Balinese beaches and the sea. Coconuts are turned into rice or salad bowls, and one of the upcoming collections will include reusable, 100% natural bamboo drinking straws, a sustainable alternative for plastic straws.
