The first toaster didn't work at all. The second is supposed to work using side 2 first, but doesn't - you need to use side 1, despite what the instructions say.

confused that you had to use right hand toast slot before you could use the left hand toast slot

I bought this a few weeks ago and am so pleased with it. This toaster fully toasts the bread, no need to flip the bread halfway through. Setting 3 is the perfect setting for our family. It’s great to do all the children’s toast in one go. Hot cross buns ( sliced) also fit well, but need setting 1.
