A steam basket, also known as a steamer basket, is a cooking tool designed to steam food. It is made of plastic / Silicone and is designed to fit inside a pot or pan. The basket has perforations or holes in its bottom and sides to allow steam to pass through and cook the food placed inside. Steam baskets are commonly used to cook vegetables, seafood, dumplings, and other foods that benefit from being cooked with steam rather than boiling or frying. They are also used to reheat leftover food and sterilize kitchen utensils. To use a steam basket, basket is placed inside a pot or pan that contains a small amount of boiling water. The food to be steamed is placed in the basket, and the lid is placed on the pot or pan to trap the steam inside. The food is cooked by the hot steam that circulates around it, resulting in a moist, flavorful and healthy meal.
