The sensor responds automatically and the integrated soft start function slowly switches the light 'ON' in a way that's kind to the eyes. Intelligent lighting for a convenient life.

This is a great quality light, really solid with glass panes. The hole for the cable is located near the base of the light, which may affect where you position the light. The pir range can be easily changed to 12m or 5m by rotating the sensor. The instructions for changing the settings are a bit complicated but press the middle button until the red led flashes (within the sensor) release the button and only press the button again after the amount of time you want the light to dim down after the pir activation. Use the button on the right to cycle through the light levels release when the level is appropriate for your low level lighting. To set the lighting level for when you want the light to come on at dusk, do this in the evening when the light is at the level of your choosing, press and hold the left button until the red led flashes. If you don't get it quite right it's easy to access the buttons, there's just one screw holding the outer glass case onto the main body of the light. I'm using a Philips Warmglow E27 Edison Screw LED Dimmable 9watt, Warm White light bulb, which works great and should be energy efficient. Also fantastic service from Wayfair.. Samantha.
