Not especially easy to assemble. Definitely needed a phillips head screw driver to drive in the screws, and some pre-drilled holes were not very deep. It helps if two people put it together, although one can do it if they are handy. What I don't care for is the front curtain. It is stiff, rubs against the bottom, especially with bedding inside. Only one of the two outdoor cats will go in it, even though I had a heating pad in it. I made cut out two of the curtain pieces so cats will enter it more willingly.
