I moved into a studio apartment and wanted to be able to not have to worry about my ferrets getting into the bathroom and getting into the toilet and I wanted to keep them out of my closest area. We really needed this to keep the dogs from going downstairs. Since we have a metal railing on the one side, though, we had to buy a hook to latch it.
