The description stated that it's made of jute. The backing may be, but the pile appears to be polypropylene or equivalent. Bit cheap-looking, but of course it was not expensive at all, so you probably get what you pay for. Using as a door-mat

Love this rug just finding it hard to get to lay flat it’s only just gone down so hopefully it will iron out other than that I’m really happy with it .
