scratchy not suitable at all like burlap; kids couldn't play on it

This is a very scratchy and rough rug but pn top of that our toddler dropped a glass of water on it and we could never get rid of an awful sheeplike smell after that. The only thing that I still like about this rug is the design. Beautiful as is on picture.

The color is more a beige than Ivory. On my computer screen, the Ivory looks closer to a bright white and the colors seem to be a bit brighter. The coloring is still quite beautiful. It could be just the nature of this flat weave rug, but the material is very rough and scratchy. I had bought it for our office where my kids and I sometimes like to sit on the floor to play board games. Seems like it is very durable, just not very soft.
