I really like the subtle pattern in this rug. it does need a rug pad for a family room or bedroom, but I knew that going in and ordered one. The pile is somewhat short the but rug has a sleek, almost slippery feel on naked feet - very nice. The colors change based on the direction the pile is facing, (from ivory to light beige). If you don't like that shabby-chic type look it may not be for you. But I love that it looks imperfect and casual. The rug is pretty true to the colors as pictured online, but I would say that the darkest parts (kind of look like leaves) are a slate blue/gray, which was hard to tell in the online pics. It also has lighter gray tones, ivory, beige and something that seems almost like light coral. We got a 10x14 rug for the family room, pictured (please excuse the fact that the rug pad is sticking out and that we have no furniture in the room yet!). I liked it so much I ordered another for our bedroom. The dog likes it too.
