The Dhaka rug is named for the district in West Bengal where jute is farmed. This sustainable vegetable fibre is sometimes referred to as golden fibre and you can see why! Jute comes from one of the fastest-growing plant types and its long, strong fibres make it ideal for weaving. Many of our eco-friendly ranges use jute but, in the Dhaka range, it has been woven with braided detail.

This rug is a little more Shabby Elegance than others that we offer but they are of great value. If you are a hippy or a hippy chick you will probably love them. They are hand-loomed in India with multi-coloured fabric so everyone is different - and the fact that they are made with recycled materials is a great touch! Remember that the random fabric content means that they should be treated as non-colour fast especially if they have become damp - so please take care to avoid colour transfer onto other surfaces.

Gyan means 'alive' and these rugs definitely bring life to your room! Our Gyan range was inspired by a single sample of an old-fashioned frilled rag rug. When placed in our shop in Scotland, it attracted much comment from our older customers who remembered making similar articles in their younger days. We love the lively feel of these rugs but we also love the obvious message about the need for society to recycle whenever possible.
