This rug and its design have their origins in the Kurdish area of Persia, now Iran. It's been made in the outskirts of the Kurdish city of Ormside. These original rugs are extremely high quality, and are made with very dense and thick fabric, to ensure they last for many years to come. They have a simple elegance that makes them well-suited to most interiors. This rug's Herati design features a repeating floral motif. Hand knotted in India, the rug's uniform design will have a calming effect on any room. The pile is made of 70% pure virgin wool, and is finished with 30% of the finest silk. The silk content is a common element of the pattern, which also gives the rug a softer feel and a shiny finish. Tightly knotted, with a density of approximately 300,000 knots/m², the pattern is perfectly reproduced, while making the rug extremely sturdy and hard wearing too. The densely-woven knots result in a dense pile, which perfectly reproduces the pattern. Its artistic style has been perfected through a complex process. The dreamy rug has been washed several times and dried in the sun. Each hand-knotted rug is unique, and can be considered to be a work of art in its own right. The technique has been handed down from generation to generation, making each rug into something really special.
