Some people have said it’s scratchy in their reviews. I didn’t find that at all. It’s soft for this type of rug. Also, sure, it has a slight two-tone to it but overall it’s a nice basic beige/cream. I’m not sure I would call it ivory….or at least if you’re looking for something that is 100% uniform with no variation in color, this may not be for you, but it’s a nice solid rug.. Mark. These rag rugs are handmade in India by the barefoot college, an Ngo in rural Rajasthan. Established in 1972, the barefoot college is a non-government organisation that has been providing basic services and solutions to problems in rural communities, with the objective of making them self-sufficient and sustainable. These 'Barefoot solutions' can be broadly categorised into solar energy, water, education, health care, rural handicrafts, people's action, communication, women's empowerment and wasteland development. They are made from rags that have been left over from the garment industry and handmade on a hand-loom. They recommend that they are hand washed in a cool wash. As these rugs have been made with recycled rags they cannot guarantee that they are colour-fast. Due to the handmade nature of these products designs may slightly vary but loveliness comes as standard.

The handmade flokati rug in natural wool is woven in the classic Greek tradition with 3 kilos of wool per square meter. Slight deviations in colour, dimensions, and weight are due to the production of this natural product. New wool is dirt-repellent and hard-wearing but tends to fluff. Do not vacuum off the wool fluff, but step on it. The formation of fluff decreases over time due to the matting of the surface. For smooth subfloors, you should use a carpet underlay.

Was not sure when receiving it looked like shrunk jumper hard hair also said not for walking on after one day I got used to it it is different and can live with it now. Gillian. Mon Aug 23 2021

The handwoven plain wool rug is an absolute trendsetter in the field of natural living. This sustainable rug is made of high-quality tumbled virgin sheep's wool in the pile and the indestructible jute core not only scores with its natural, renewable raw materials, but also impresses with its high durability. Since the spun wool of the alpine carpet is washed in a special process, the horny scales of the wool hair get caught and thus form the typical abrasion-resistant surface of the carpet. The wool remains pleasantly soft and non-slip but is more abrasion-resistant and lint-free than with a cut pile. This means that the alpine rug can be used on both sides and is not only ideal for the living room, dining room, and bedroom but it can also be used in heavily used areas of the house, such as the hallway or children's room. Despite its compact surface, the Alpen rug is suitable for underfloor heating The high-quality virgin sheep's wool in the pile also helps to improve the room climate. This rug is still woven by hand according to the old master craftsmanship in Greece. Therefore, special dimensions can also be made on request. This plain rug is available in 12 different, harmonious colours, so you can find the right colour complement for the floor with the alpine rug. Since the wool always absorbs colour in different intensities, slight colour nuances between the colour and the natural tone of the wool are preserved during weaving and fulling. As a result, the monochrome of the alpine rug looks subtle but never gets boring. The Alpine wool rug is an ultra-modern rug that puts you in a good mood!
