This is a very thick and heavy high/low motif rug. It is very striking. I bought a small version of this rug, and the photo showed the design at full size on a large rug. You still get the full size design, but on a small rug, so the elements look rather oversized. It took some adjusting to get used to it. It is shedding a lot, which fills the vacuum cleaner, but probably because of how new and thick it is. It can certainly afford to lose some fibres. It is very dense. I like the charcoal background. It's not as 'jarring' as black would be. I've included a photo of the rug from Wayfair's website beside the smaller version I bought. The Crocs are to give the photo scale.. Nancy. Colchester. The handmade flokati rug in natural wool is woven in the classic Greek tradition with 3 kilos of wool per square meter. Slight deviations in colour, dimensions, and weight are due to the production of this natural product. New wool is dirt-repellent and hard-wearing but tends to fluff. Do not vacuum off the wool fluff, but step on it. The formation of fluff decreases over time due to the matting of the surface. For smooth subfloors, you should use a carpet underlay.
