How to Host a Mini Festival at Home
Bringing all the fun of Glastonbury to your own garden.
Whether you're looking to curb the festival fomo, throw a far-out birthday party or celebrate a special occasion, we've listed the must-have items you need to transform your garden into a mini Glastonbury.
Set Up a Teepee
Opt for a pop-up teepee as the focal point of your festival at home. A stylish essential that will also reassure against an unforgiving British Summer, teepees are the perfect glamping accessory. Fill yours with plush cushions, a dreamy sheepskin rug and soft lighting for an instant bohemian vibe.
If the weather permits, whip out the BBQ]or light up the fire pit for some cutlery-free festival food. Think easy eats like veggie kebabs, barbecue chicken or grilled halloumi that you'd otherwise be queuing a good 45 minutes for at a festival food stall. Preparing big batches of party food wouldn't go a miss either, so set up a designated buffet table with veggie chili, nachos and spicy rice and a few bowls of snacks.
Now is a better time than ever to dust off your mason jars and serve up some festival-inspired beverages. Save on topping up individual glasses by investing in a drinks dispenser and fill it up with a thirst-quenching cocktail (or mocktail) with added lashings of fruit. Large buckets filled with ice are also the perfect way to keep any unopened bottles nice and cool.
Tip: Keep food and drinks separate so that your festival guests aren't creating huge queues.
Rest Your Dancing Feet
You'll want to give you and your party guest's dancing feet a well-deserved break, so spread out an array of bold, patterned outdoor rugs along with layers of bright cushions and woven pouffes for ultimate comfort. Level up by installing a standalone hammock or going old school by tying one to a couple of trees.
Twinkling lanterns together with outdoor fairy lights will seamlessly take your festival set up into the night. Layer your lighting and hang everywhere from trees to your fence and even the garden shed.
Don't Stop The Music
Of course we haven't forgotten the key essential to making your at-home festival one to remember - the music. Create a set list to go with your custom festival playlist and allocate a timeslot for each of your favourite artists. It's your party, so you decide who takes the headline spot - just remember to keep the noise down after hours so as not to disturb the neighbours.
