How to Host a Movie Night
Because staying in is the new going out.
Whether you've got a budding family of little ones or a few friends who are partied-out after Christmas, hosting your very own movie night is easy and enjoyable. With streaming services offering all the new releases, it's time to embrace onesie-clad watching (we wouldn't dream of doing it any other way).
Sofa, So Good
Make your living room or den seating area as cosy as can be with a sectional or corner sofa. Bean bags, oversized cushions and pouffes are great for adding extra seating, while plenty of throws and scatter cushions will get everybody feeling snug.
The Silver Screen
A good TV stand or bookcase will help to organise your media collection and make deciding what to watch a doddle. If you have lots of consoles and cables to be tidied away, choose a stand with plenty of storage to make sure your space isn't a tripping hazard for guests. Arrange the television facing the centre of your seating arrangement or if you have the wall space, invest in a home projector for an authentic cinema experience.
Cinema Snacks
The joy of hosting your own movie night is being in control of the snacks! If you're encouraging everyone to be healthy, use a blender to prepare smoothies and fresh juices and offer vegetable batons with plenty of tasty dips (a Lazy Susan is great for this). Make your own nibbles with a popcorn maker and arrange plenty of colourful bowls filled with crisps and chocolate snacks if you fancy an indulgent evening.
All in the Décor
If you find that movie nights become a regular affair, think about styling your space with some cinema-worthy accents to give it that special finishing touch. Film posters and iconic shots of Hollywood stars add silver screen appeal, while red velvet cushions and pouffes create a luxurious home cinema setting.
