5 Simple Steps to Organising Kid's Craft Supplies
Little ones who love to draw? Help them tidy their creative sessions with these handy tips.
With a seven year old daughter who loves craft supplies and stationery as much as I do, it's vital to keep supplies under control! The supplies had been mounting up and getting overwhelming so it was time to get them organised to allow us to see what we have and use them properly. Here I'll run through how we did it!

You Will Need:
Kid's craft supplies
Drawers
Small containers: we usedspice jars
Magazine holder
Chalkboard labels
Caddy
Chalk or chalk pens
Optional: white paint
Step One:
Firstly, I gathered all the pens, pencils, crayons etc. and added them to the caddy, which was intended for bottles but I repurposed it for supplies and painted it white. If your kids tend to do colouring, crafts or homework in different rooms of the house, then a caddy that they can carry around is great.
- Try repurposing items when you are looking for organising and storage ideas eg using spice jars for small craft supplies and if it doesn't fit your theme, try painting it.
Step Two:
Kids love craft items like pom poms and 'googley eyes' so to keep them contained but also organised, I used a set of pink magnetic spice jars. These are great as you can see what's in them and they are easy for kids to use. The magnetic surface means they're much easier to store together too.

Step Three:
Magazine holders are handy to keep together things like colouring books that kids accumulate. You could also use a magazine holder to keep homework paperwork together if you want it kept more visible than in a drawer but still contained.
Step Four:
To store other items like paper and stickers, I decided to use some cube units. I put extra craft supplies in one drawer, things that couldn't be stored in the caddy. In the other drawers I put things like paper scraps and plain white and coloured paper, card and stickers. I used the open cube to hold the caddy but you could display some of your child's artwork in there. These cubes can be arranged however you wish to fit your space.

Step Five:
Lastly, to allow us to see what's inside the drawers, I added some chalkboard labels and wrote the contents of the drawers on them with chalk. These can be wiped clean and rewritten if you change the drawer's contents in the future too. I also added a chalkboard label to the caddy so it coordinates with the drawers.
- Use a chalk pen instead of chalk as it will last longer but can still be wiped clean.
