Keeps the water out! Has a plastic like feel not cloth but that's part of the water resistance.

Although designed to go over a round fire pit, I ordered this cover to protect the papasan chair and cushion recently purchased for our deck. The cover fits perfectly, and matches our other custom-made furniture covers, as well. A win-win all the way 'round!!!
