We did not wish to upset the layout of our garden with the introduction of a regular washing line. They may be removable but my wife is short and would have struggled to get the line from the garage and inset it into the ground hole. The wall mounted lines (two) are positioned either side of our french doors and I was able to set their height so she could manage to open and close them. The fabric covers supplied do a good job but can be a little difficult to apply if you are short. Getting the loose lines to tuck out of sight can be a little tedious. Purchasing the rigid covers seemed to be the obvious answer. They are well made, easy to fit and look stylish. The mat finish prevents sun glare on sunny days. The doos are on ‘rise and fall’ hinges so do not swing in any breeze. The opening catch is robust and holds the overlapping doors firmly in place when closed. Two line securing straps are provided to gather the lines before closing the doors but in practice these are not required. The covers are weather proof and do keep the line clean and dry. The only negative point is the cost. For two stainless steel pressings, a couple of rods and plastic ends the current purchase price is excessive. I hope they last!
