I was disappointed with the mechanism. The doors do not close completely, even if you step on the pedal with great force. Not sure if this is just broken or the quality, but for the money it should work flawlessly.

I can't say enough about the workmanship and quality of this German-made product. It's made of heavy steel and it comes in so many unusual colors; the bold orange is exactly what I wanted for my kitchen. It fits a standard plastic grocery bag, so I don't have to buy trash bags to use in it. If I had to come up with a con, it would be that it's slightly inconvenient changing the bag because you have to lift off the entire can to get at the plastic insert. I love this product!
