The pattern on this pillowcase is taken from a collection of Chinese-inspired ornamental patterns in the V&A published by British caricaturist, printseller and ornamental engraver Matthew Darly in 1754.

This pillowcase has placed snowdrops and the housewife all over snowdrops on both sides.
