White V&A Bedding

This duvet set's floral design was derived from a pattern based on a blue and white china bottle that was published in Owen Jones' 1867 book Examples of Chinese Ornament taken from objects in the South Kensington museum and other collections, held in the V&A's National Art Library.

This exquisite design, inspired by the artistry of Mulhouse's famed textile workshops in the Alsace region of northeastern France, features exotic botanical motifs and vivid depictions of the fantastical bird-of-paradise, making it a striking statement piece for any bedroom. The intricate details and rich colours from the 19th century original from the V&A textile collection bring a sense of timeless elegance to any setting.

This duvet pattern is inspired by The Garden of Love, a stunning French toile from 1790 housed in the V&A's collection of textiles and fashion. Along with traditional love themes of shepherds and shepherdesses with their flocks, it depicts amorous doves in a tranquil pastoral setting.

The acanthus style leaves that scroll across this bedlinen are based on a French textile design from the 1860s by J.D. Cornuaud, held in the V&A’s Prints & Drawings archive. Printed on 200 thread count cotton percale and sourced through the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), the reverse is an elegant stripe & leaf pattern. The range is available in four sizes of duvet cover.
