The mat is made of a 2mm thick hard rubber PVC with a textured surface and 3mm spikes on the underside. It lays nice and flat and has not moved around on my carpet, which has a short pile of about 5mm. The only negative has been when sitting in my chair in the same location the wheels sink into the mat a little. At 13 stone I'm not overly heavy, so for a heavier user this could be more of a problem. This makes it a little difficult to roll on the mat, but no more than if the chair was directly on the carpet. The wheel dents in the mat, do disappear once you roll to another part of the mat or get off your chair. We bought this product to use in our office to protect our new floor from the office chair on wheels. We were extremely pleased with this mat for several reasons. It fits the space perfectly, if you weren't looking for it, you would not notice it was under the chair and our chair rolls very easily on it. Very strong mat with spikes but still moves on my flooring, i have to pin it under my heavy desk but still can move. I have deep pile carpet but still have dints where the wheels have been if sat for a long time and my chair and I are not that heavy.. Louise. Bradford, GB. Sun Jun 20 2021
