My parking space is surrounded by fence on three sides and sits under an apple tree. After experiencing one round of severe hail damage and suffering through another fall of my car being pelted by apples, I began the quest for a carport and landed on this Sunjoy model. I couldn't be happier. At 20 feet long, it covers my entire Q7, and the width was perfect for my parking space. I can definitely open the car doors on both sides, and parking between the posts is no problem. Speaking of posts, our handyman built concrete bases for the posts because of the slope of the space. One other thing to know: in the blueprint on page 4, the distance from post to post is actually 227 inches (not 229.13 as stated in the book.) The Grill Gazebo is perfect for shading our smoker from the sun (and stopping temperature creep). The materials are solid and it is one of the few that has a metal roof. A couple of negatives, though. One of the boxes tore during shipping, which caused the loss of the washers. Luckily, I had appropriate replacement washers. Once you have a good level foundation, putting the gazebo together is easy and the instructions are very clear. I also found one YouTube video of the build, which helped visualize everything and made it even easier. There were only a couple hiccups — a couple of the screws had messed up tips and would not go into the wood. We found the same type of screw at a hardware store. And the biggest issue was that one of the metal parts was not drilled all the way, they forgot one hole on one side. We did our best to drill through the metal but ultimately left it without one bolt. I think it will be fine. It’s not the sturdiest gazebo ever (the wood is very light), but it works perfectly in our space. Put together over two days, two people. This is much more of a solid canopy than what we have had in the past and purchased to have roofing rather than a fabric canopy that often needs replacing. So glad we did after the reviews I read before purchasing. I rated 4 with the improvements they could make for their instructions on the set up, otherwise would have rated as a 5! I completed by myself but would recommend a second person for some areas. (Female with having power tools too! ) ) Here are my tips for set up 1. I sorted out all the nuts and bolts and added washer to bolt in zip lock bag per set up step and numbered it. ( inevitably you always end up with something missing but they have given a few extras. ) This helped with faster set up. 2. The steps for putting on the roof pieces are not clear of which side is up but you’ll want ridge side up. Use a short screwdriver to tighten middle sections of roof as needed rather than wrench. Easier! 3. Need a second person to help put the frame up for the middle braces before it is standing on its own. I used a strap to tie to my house of one side and a ladder to prop up the middle. Extra hands would be best. 4. I added inside roof light that can be easily hung from the hook that is provided. Does not come with purchase. Overall I’m very satisfied with this canopy so far and while it took a longer time to deliver, it was packaged very well on a small pallet that was attached to another pallet. 1 box so do leave specific delivery instructions or good to be present upon delivery and our driver easily placed in backyard where we needed it. We’re so happy with our gazebo! We had someone very experienced in furniture assembly put it together, and it took him almost 4 hours. There were only a few moments when he absolutely needed a second set of hands to help with the assembly. Because we placed the gazebo in a spot with a mixture of rocky ground and concrete, we didn’t bolt it down. We simply sunk the legs in buckets of sand and gravel, and it feels really secure and sturdy.
