Fully Assembled Hanging Bird Feeders

This hanging bird feeder comes complete with an integral squirrel baffle to try to stop them from getting at the bird food. The feeding tray is positioned underneath the baffle, which in turn is adjustable in its position on the hanging hook. This enables the baffling part to be raised or lowered to get the perfect position to let the birds in but keep the squirrels out. The baffle also provides protection from other predators such as swooping birds of prey and cats, and as it is made of Perspex, it is possible to see the birds feeding through it.

Firstly, the cage around the feeders is slightly further from the food (8cm), which makes it harder for the squirrels to reach. This gap also stops starlings from getting through and demolishing the food, as well as keeping pigeons and jackdaws away, leaving the food for the intended recipients, the songbirds. Coming in a set of 3 and finished in an attractive gunmetal grey, there are feeders for seed (with 4 ports), fat balls and peanuts. The central hanging wire makes this feeder easy to hang from branches or feeder stations. Whilst it is stable for songbirds to perch and feed on, the design makes it less stable for large birds such as pigeons, and dare we say it - squirrels (although we would suggest a squirrel baffle to make sure of this). These feeders each have a capacity of 600 grams and can take either seed or nuts. The lids have a simple twist and lock opening mechanism that makes it possible to refill while hanging. The feeder base has drainage holes in the base to keep the tray from filling with water and has 6 feeding ports to enable all-round dining; this makes viewing easier and increases the potential for attracting a variety of birds to the feeder.

Keep squirrels away from bird food with this ingenious bird feeder. Coming complete with a large hanging hook (16cm x 15cm), this feeder has an array of features to try to keep the wily squirrel away from precious bird food. Firstly, it has a metal lid to stop squirrels from gnawing through to the food from above. The lid has a closing mechanism that is undone from underneath. This lid then overhangs the seed container by 3.5cm all around making it hard for the squirrel to navigate. Underneath this, there is another metal baffle of the same dimensions that creates another obstacle in the intruder's path. Finally, the perches in front of the metal feeding ports are spring-loaded, so if a squirrel does get this far, they will have their footing removed as soon as they place weight on the perch. The feeder also comes with 3 inserts that can be placed in the feeder ports to make them suitable for niger seeds.

Made from stainless steel, this feeder is strong and durable. Simple to refill, this modern style makes an attractive addition to your garden.

This is certainly squirrel proof. My squirrel seems to have stopped trying to get into it. It says it’s for nuts but am not sure if this will work as holes extremely small. Will leave a bit longer and then try seeds. Liz. Bury St. Edmunds, GB. Fri Feb 04 2022
