The cushions are splash proof (so if any spills occur, pick up the cushion and give it a firm pat on the underside to encourage the droplets to roll off). However, the cushions should not be left outside or in damp conditions. Store them somewhere warm and dry. If they do get wet then allow them to fully dry in the sun or somewhere warm before you store them. This set includes a FREE water resistant cover but please note, this is not fully waterproof and you should still store your cushions somewhere dry during wet weather and through winter. If I could give no stars I would. I wanted a chair with a canopy to keep the sun off my face. This will do that as if you angle the canopy to protect your face it collapses onto you, smashing you in the face. My product arrived in the box damaged. When contacting Wayfair to ask for a replacement I was told I couldn't have one but could have replacement parts of a partial refund. As there were so many damaged elements I asked for a replacement. I was told I couldn't have one. In the end I accepted a partial refund hoping that the damage would largely be not visible once I had put the various parts together. However, once I tried to construct it was apparent that it had been sent with the front legs attached the wrong way around and this had caused very visible damage to the arms of the chair. I had to reset the legs. Once you attach the lower leg support you'd better not want to store your chair as it will not fold up.
