Our outdoor storage benches are made using vintage style apple crates, they are raised off the ground with rubber feet to prevent the wood sitting on wet surfaces, the lids are hinged and upholstered in 12 ounce canvas which is a Polyester / Cotton mix. I bought this arbour to replace my old one, which had rotted due to the difficulty of repainting all the fiddly bits. This one looks really good and was very easy to paint I altered the layout when assembling so that the side panels had the smooth sides facing out so that the rain would run off easier instead of sitting on the little ledges, and it was easier to paint. The only downside with the quality was that there were a few places where the nails had come through or missed the struts when the arbour was made at the factory and one or two splinters, and bad nail gunning. I painted all the parts prior to assembling (and after) which made it easier to get into all the little splinters and rough bits, and also there could have been a few edging strips to hide and protect the edges where back and front panels met, and the diamond at the back could have done with a decorative strip to hide the nails. HOWEVER Overall for the money it is good value. I am making a couple of ledges for the side windows to hold a cup and it will also hide/protect the edges of the panels.. Vivienne. Wood is green in a lot of places so clearly been stored in a damp place before delivery. Most of the screws were rusty too. You’re stuffed if you don’t have a drill because no holes are pre drilled so you have to drill the holes to fix it together. Terrible quality with design, I will need to buy further wood to add to it t make it sturdy. It isn’t to be built like a wooden pallet at all, it’s got absolutely no support in the back or the middle. Arbor is good but delivery was terrible, first time they tried to deliver they didn’t turn up, and we waited in all day , bank holiday Monday, we had guests. Excuse , they run out of petrol! Second time they tried to deliver, the arbour had come out of its packaging, and would I k ow what the pieces were, so I told them not to deliver, and we reordered, third time they delivered, it was not in packaging they said they had to unpack it to fit van.. The high-quality pine wood is chamber-dried before processing to avoid rough outlines due to moisture and to ensure maximum strength and stability of the furniture. An open-pore glaze is used for surface treatment. If after-treatment is required at a later stage (depending on weather conditions), it can be done with any outdoor suitable wood protection glaze. The Primula Wooden Bench is constructed from 35mm thick pine wood and therefore very sturdy, withstands high loads and usable in the outdoors.
