One of the plates had a blemish and a scrape in the glaze. I kept the set because the rest of the plates are really nice and I can just use the blemished one as spare. I have no doubt that Wayfair would have changed the whole set if I wanted but I’m happy with it. I would definitely recommend the plates, these manufacturing faults are very rare. Lovingly sculpted from recycled, organic clay, this set of four Side Plates from the Portmeirion Minerals collection is full of unique texture and detail. Textured underneath and coated with a reactive glaze in a colourway on the inside for a distinctive, one-of-a-kind set.

All four plates were smashed inside the packaging. There was no bubble wrap, just a thin piece of cardboard separating each plate. When I picked up the box it rattled, so I knew the contents were broken before I opened it. The design of the plates, being heavy pottery, makes them more vulnerable to chipping and breaking, so the packaging should be revised.
